What makes someone burst out with laughter when they read a comic strip? Is it the character slipping on a banana skin? The depiction of a fart? Or is it a more committed humour, such as one that speaks out against injustice? Does laughter always come from the same sources? How do comic strips evolve as they come into contact with humour? What genres have been developed? How is humour used in this medium today? In short, what is humour made of? To answer these questions, BDFIL is organising an open-air summer exhibition.
By strolling through the city from the Cathedral Esplanade to Ouchy, the public will learn more about the codes of laughter and jokes. It will also be an opportunity to observe the various social and political aspects of humour. Each panel will include an insert for children and a summary in FALC (easy-to-read and understand French), as well as an English translation available on the BDFIL website.
In a sometimes serious, sometimes mischievous tone, the exhibition promises many surprises!
