More info

The neo-classical building that houses the Alimentarium is located on the shores of Lake Geneva in Vevey, facing its famous Fork skillfully planted in the lake. The physical experience begins with the first steps into its premises, thanks to a magnificent garden offering a total immersion in a lush green setting teeming with aromatic plants, vegetables, flowers, and cereals. Transforming with the changing seasons, it plunges visitors into an ecosystem where humans and non-humans interact within the food cycle.

Inside the building, the scenography and numerous activities invite the public on a flavorful journey to the heart of food. Divided into three areas, the exhibition approaches the theme by seamlessly combining entertainment and science: playful and interactive installations offer an immersive experience across ages, cultures, and senses. The culinary arts come to life through a series of activities designed to promote transmission and exchange: workshops, demonstrations, or animations - the team is passionate about their subject and the experiences they share with the public. Finally, the Alimentarium welcomes scientific and cultural partners, both local and international, to its table for conferences or occasional meetings, fostering the exchange of experiences.

In its digital space, the Alimentarium makes its knowledge available to everyone: expert fact sheets, in-depth articles, digitized objects, online courses, games and an educational platform - a generous offer to meet the expectations of as many people as possible.

The Alimentarium is indeed a unique institution that fosters dialogue to establish a lasting exchange between communities, both locally in its physical space in Vevey and globally in the digital sphere.
