More info

The architecture of Château de Vullierens, as well as its magnificent gardens and sculpture park, make it one of Switzerland's most remarkable heritages, with an incomparable 180° view of the Alps, Mont-Blanc and Lake Geneva.

The Château de Vullierens is considered to be a perfect example of early 18th-century architecture in Switzerland and was built on the foundations of a 13th-century fortified castle.

The flowering season begins with late tulips, followed by bluebells, rhododendrons, peonies, irises, alliums, roses, hemerocallis lilies, hydrangeas and dahlias, among others, and ends with the autumn foliage of the parc's hundred-year-old trees.

The iris collection - begun in 1955 - is considered to be one of the most modern in Europe, with 400 varieties to choose from. Many award-winning American hybrids are featured, including several varieties of iris that rebloom in autumn. At the height of the season, an incomparable 4-hectare mosaic is made up of thousands of flowers. The gardens and themed walks offer additional pleasure, and the bridle path, lined with historic trees such as redwoods, oaks and certainly the oldest tulip tree in Switzerland, completes the floral offering. Some of the trees have been recognised as remarkable by the canton of Vaud.

The sculpture park features over 90 large-scale contemporary works by 20 Swiss and international artists.

The 7-hectare vineyard is undergoing biodynamic conversion, and the wines have been awarded organic bud certification and numerous prizes. The estate's 6 wines can be tasted free of charge at the winery, and the historic cellars can be visited. Wine tourism events are organised regularly.

Visitors can enjoy two cafés, a shop and exhibitions. A children's trail completes the experience. Born of a generous nature sculpted by time, a kingdom is revealed to children. A world made of nature, to touch, see, listen to and re(feel).
