Couronne d’or

Where?
Rue des Deux-Marchés 13
This café-bar dating back to the late 19th century has preserved its soul as a neighbourhood bar. In the evening, people go there for beers, cocktails or nice wines, in an atmosphere at once bohemian, trendy and good-natured.
That little extra from the food insider "Tania Brasseur": Whether the weather is foul or fair, no matter, as the terrace and indoor room both have tremendous charm. In addition, you can have a snack at any time.
Favourite drink: The absinth

La Cité

ArchitectureHistoryHeritageShopping
This is a quarter full of typical small bistros and craft shops. To the north of the Cité hill, at Place du Tunnel, avenue César-Roux avenue and Place de l’Ours, shops and quirky bistros cry out to be discovered. It is around the Cité hill, sculpted by the Flon and Louve rivers, that the mediaeval town grew. Its cobble-stoned pedestrian streets as well as its monuments, the Cathedral of Lausanne, the St-Maire Castle and the Old academy, bear witness to that.

Palud square

In the centre of the square is the town’s oldest fountain, adorned with a statue representing justice. Close by, a clock presents the history of Vaud in animated scenes every hour from 9:00 to 19:00. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings this is the site of the country market, which also sets up shop in the neighbouring pedestrian streets. Every first Friday of the month, it plays host to a craft market. Typical cafes, boutiques and large, elegant shops complement what this high-class district, which is completely pedestrianised, has to offer.

More info

Couronne d’Or opened its doors back in 1895 to offer people in Lausanne a coffee, a meal or even brunch, which is served every Sunday.
Not just a restaurant, the Golden Crown organises fun events throughout the year.

This establishment has been awarded the “ Café historique de Lausanne ” label established by the city of Lausanne in 2021. A town-centre establishment dating back to the end of the 19th century. Small café that has remained simple, with a pretty storefront, wood panelling and terrace, restored to its original aspect in 2006 and made famous before that by its tenant Solange Panchaud. It has found a new lease of life thanks to a younger clientele.
