More info

The history of the city of Fribourg’s “Domaine de la Bourgeoisie” began in 1362. Until then, the lords of Billens (Glâne) owned the vineyards of the village of Riex. Setbacks led their last representatives, Aymon IV and his brother Peter VII – of the so-called “Palézieux” branch – to let go of the Riex estate and sell the vineyards, buildings and wine press to the newly founded City-State of Fribourg for 680 Lausanne pounds. That same year, Fribourg relinquished its new acquisition to the “Hôpital de Notre-Dame” (Hospital of Our Lady), a vital and important bourgeois institution of the City.

Nowadays, the range comprises 11 different wines: 5 Chasselas (among which one Calamin Grand cru and one Dézaley Grand cru), 4 reds (a Gamay, a blend, a Galotta and a Divico-Merlot), a rosé, a sparkling wine and a sweet wine. They can be purchased at the Riex Estate or on the online shop.

On request, you can also rent the cellar and its terrace for a family dinner, a business meeting in a different setting or drinks with friends. Various options are available depending on your desires!

Many events are organised at the shop in Fribourg and in Riex, where you can discover all the history of the estate as well as its values and taste its products.
