Palud square

HeritageShopping
In the centre of the square is the town’s oldest fountain, adorned with a statue representing justice. Close by, a clock presents the history of Vaud in animated scenes every hour from 9:00 to 19:00. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings this is the site of the country market, which also sets up shop in the neighbouring pedestrian streets. Every first Friday of the month, it plays host to a craft market. Typical cafes, boutiques and large, elegant shops complement what this high-class district, which is completely pedestrianised, has to offer.

More info

Since 1826, Favarger master chocolatiers have been using artisan methods to create chocolates that are unforgettable for both the eyes and the palate. Each piece of chocolate produced expresses decades of experience, refinement and tradition.

Anecdote
It all started with a love story. Once upon a time, a watchmaker, Jean-Samuel Favarger, fell in love with Suzanne Foulquier, the daughter of a chocolatier from Geneva. By marrying her, he absorbed the chocolate-making heritage and learnt all the secrets of the chocolatier trade. The couple founded Faverger to express their love for Swiss artisan chocolate. Since then, their passion has been passed on from generation to generation and from employee to employee. To this day, Favarger is a family-run chocolatier.
