More info
Ideally located opposite the Castle and easily accessible by train, bus or car, the Fort de Chillon has been transformed into a modern and dynamic space.
Over more than 2,000 m2, visitors will discover during an hour and a half “the Adventure of the Swiss Soldier” from 1940 to 1995, as well as the “National Redoubt” strategy through quizzes, military strategy games as well as interactive kinematics. Thanks to its entertaining scenography and written explanations, the Fort is designed for self-guided visits. It is suited to all ages, so that grandchildren, parents and grandparents can spend memorable moments together. The Fort de Chillon Museum is a hands-on museum, a place where you can experiment, touch and make memories.
To extend your immersion, enjoy a lunch at the "Bistrot du Soldat" (Soldier’s Mess). Take a seat where the soldiers used to eat and sample the revisited army classics served in mess kits. A culinary experience unique in Switzerland!
Built in 1941 in the middle of the Second World War, the Fort de Chillon remained classified top secret until 2001. The crucial element for the protection of the Chillon gully for more than 50 years, it is interesting to discover how the Fort adapted to the Cold War’s nuclear threat.
Did you know?
A significant bonus is that thanks to its constant, year-round temperature of 20 degrees, the visit of the Fort de Chillon Museum will be a successful outing whatever the weather (heat wave or rain).
