An incredible rooftop restaurant located at the metro stop Sorge. On the Vortex’s 8th floor, you’ll discover an incredible view over the lake and mountains. Settled in a cosy chair or sofa, you can taste local beers and wines, and for foodies, I recommend the delicious slices of pizza!
Located in Chavannes-Près-Renens, only a few stops from the centre of Lausanne on the m1 metro line, Le Perchoir sits atop the roof of the Vortex. A rooftop of more than 250 m2 that is an invitation to chill. The lake and mountains form the backdrop with stunning sunsets at the end of the day. It’s the place where I love to go for apéro with my friends. What’s more, the prices are very affordable and concerts are often organised there!
In the heart of the magnificent Lausanne University campus, between the river and the green spaces, is a rather strange building: the Vortex. This circular building is a must see during any visit to Lausanne: designed as accommodation for UNIL and EPFL students, it is structured around a 2.8-kilometre spiral walkway that accesses all the student rooms. You can nevertheless reach the 8th floor by lift to get to one of the friendliest bars in Lausanne, Le Perchoir. A large terrace, sunset, view over the lake, food and especially quite low prices, and sometimes even concerts – what more could you ask for?
