Opened by a Danish lawyer-turned-baker, the ZYMI bakery has returned to our grandmothers’ recipes to create delicious bread the old-fashioned way. Everything here is local and 100% artisanal! The proprietor's goal to reproduce a welcoming, neighbourhood atmosphere has also been a complete success, and there’s only one thing more that we want: to get up early and head over to ZYMI for sourdough, poppyseed or wholegrain breads, not to mention delectable cinnamon and cardamom rolls.

Oh, the bread! My other passion! This new bakery, which opened on the Avenue de Rumine in October and takes its name of Zymi from the oldest form of leavened bread, offers breads made from recipes handed down through the generations. Delicious! You’ve got some money left? Fall for one of their fabulous cinnamon rolls!

Close to Mon-Repos Park in Lausanne, do go there and taste their sandwiches. They’re perfect to take with you and savour al fresco! What makes them unique is the little twist of oriental combinations that often change in each sandwich. And don’t forget to taste the cardamom roll, it’s delicious!
